RONSTAN Bay Challenge - July 3, 2004

Report from Mike Z : waiting

Report from 46: The water sure was pretty - nice flood made for a very tame Ronstan. The Exocet Board sure likes the flatter water better than the lumpy bumpy. Otherwise I thinks some of the ML's would have walked on me down wind. 9.8 Aerotech is just a sweet sail. It was great in the 18-20 mph at the whether mark and just as comfy at Angel Island in the 30-34 mph. Definitely my favorite piece of cloth. Even though I was one of the few on a 70cm fin ( who would have thought it!) the Select DC hard was great. Did not feel like it had to much drag down wind and upwind it allowed me to pick off 3 or four boards. Can't say I am totally sold on the move to smaller fins but then again I was schooled by over 5 minutes by Mike Z on a 63 and Stevie S on a 60. And they pulled away from me upwind! Oh well maybe its not the fin. Looking forward to doing this again at the nationals.

I've published our route from yesterday's calcup on the suuntosports web page. There is a cool track player on Suunto's website that lets you play the tracks that the watch records in real-time on a map. http://www.suuntosports.com

-log in as guest -click on the sailboat logo in the upper right hand side of the screen to enter the marine forum -find the track (it's called "03/07/04 by soheilzahedi 3.7.04 Ronstan Bay Challenge") in the "Latest Tracks" section of the marine forum page (midway down the page...) -click on the track date, and it will start playing (you might have to download and install the "curl"
plugin in order to get it to work - it will prompt you to do that if it's needed...).
