US Nationals Report from star-board Website

I just had a great week in San Francisco for the US Nationals. I was using this event as a tune up for the Worlds in Poland. I blew my ACL a few weeks ago and it was good to see that i can race no problem! It was a good test for my new knee brace too! I'll have to get surgery after the season ends! Micah took the title with Phil 2nd, and Devon 3rd.

I ended up 4th in Formula and 3rd in Slalom behind Jimmy 2nd and Micah in 1st. I was pretty stoked racing on my 100 Sonic in the slalom...this board is so fast and easy. If it wasn't for the last race where i sailed into the biggest whole and stopped ( Phil didn't even plane out the 1st mark!) I would ended up 2nd! I had really good board speed against the boys on their custom boards.

We had 13 races total mostly in 20 knot + range. I had a few pre-mature starts along with 3 bad races, so i kinda put myself out of contention for the top three. However I was stoked with my speed and gear. Some of the guys are going fast in certain specific conditions, but I'm really stoked that my 158 rips in all the conditions. It's the weapon!

If you've never been to San Fran, you must go! The windsurfing crowd there is really strong and a super nice crowd. The event site at Chrissy Field is one of the best i've ever seen. Sandy beach with grass rigging. The city is so beautiful, the people are really nice, and i can't wait to go back.

Next stop for me is the Formula Worlds in Poland, followed by Gran Canaria and Hungary for the PWA World Cup Tour.

Thanks to the St. Francis Yacht club for their hospitality!

See you on the water,

Sam Ireland
